On February 11, the Amsterdam World International Film Festival will take place in Amsterdam. It has been running for 11 years and has been qualified by IMDB, the largest film database.

The ceremony will take place at the Pathé De Munt Cinema (15 Vijzelstraat Amsterdam, Noord-Holland 1017 HD). The language of the event will be English.

The jury awards more than 13 participating filmmakers. Media Loft is the media partner of the film festival.

The competition programme attracts filmmakers from countries ranging from the UK to Japan. One of the films is "Forgotten Word" (directed by Sam Brown), presented in the category "Best Short Film". It is an arthouse drama with supernatural undertones and rich metaphorical imagery.

The film raises questions about the future of the world and technology, and how they might interact.

The other film is The Formula for Success by American director Alex Davidson. The nomination is for best feature film. In the film, celebrities, including winners of world championships and Olympic Games, actors and scientists speak about their paths to success.

Amongst others, Johnny Depp, Jennifer Aniston, Wladimir Klitschko, Al Pacino and Tom Cruise have shared their stories.

Two films produced by Media Loft will also be screened during the ceremony. One, Beyond the Rainbow, is about the lives of gay, lesbian and transgender people who dare to escape to the Netherlands from their home countries. In the second film, War Has No Child's Face, Ukrainian mothers in an Amsterdam shelter talk about how to talk to a child about war.

Amsterdam is not the only city to host the World International Film Festival. The event is organised in about 20 cities around the world throughout the year. It brings together filmmakers and film buffs in international art centres.

Free tickets must be purchased to attend the ceremony. They are available at the link here.
