Viktor Shenderovich on the "stabbing" of the Russian opposition, the immigrants' greatest shame and Putin's terrible finale
On 11 January 2022, the writer and publicist Viktor Shenderovich announced that he had left Russia due to the threat of criminal prosecution at the request of businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Even earlier, on 30 December 2021, the Russian Ministry of Justice added the writer to the register of "foreign agents" media.
"I have always appeared when summoned for interrogations and trials. Partly out of curiosity, partly out of trust in fate, and partly out of a childlike belief in the triumph, if not of good, then of common sense... But I think I will refrain from taking part in the criminal case that I am facing at the request of 'Kremlin chef' Prigozhin, and it is precisely out of common sense," Shenderovich wrote.
Since February 2022, Viktor has been a member of the Russian Anti-War Committee.
Media Loft editor-in-chief Victoria Hoagland spoke with Viktor Shenderovich about emigration, mysterious letters from the Russian opposition in defense of Mikhail Fridman, and why it is so important to learn history.
